Like with King David, there are times when we all need to fly to a high tower.
Although the tower pictured is named after David, it’s not the same one. Yet in the light of dusk, the Tower of David evokes three thousand years of history. Built in the second century before Christ by the Romans to strengthen the city’s defenses, since then it has been destroyed and rebuilt by Christian, Muslim, Mamluk and Ottoman invaders. Today it is an archaeological museum. In Psalm 18, David likened God to a fortified tower, a place where he and his family could find safety from his enemies.
