Art Print Description:
The storm rages; the waves threaten. Waters, be still, and still my soul.
The Sea of Galilee could be called “The Lake of Many Names.” The name may derive from the Hebrew word for harp or lyre (“kinnor”), which is something like the shape of the lake. Known in the Old Testament as the Sea of Kinnereth, in the New Testament it is called Lake Galilee, Lake Tiberias, and the Lake or Sea of Gennesaret. Today it is called Sea of Kinneret, Ginosar (or Ginnosar), the Lake of Gennesar, and the Sea of Kinneroth. On a hill overlooking this relatively small thirteen-by-seven mile lake, Jesus gave The Sermon on the Mount, the greatest sermon ever preached. As the psalmist gies us to understand, when God opens our minds to be able to receive his Word, it’s like finding clear, cool and calm waters on a hot day.
